Ah.. Learning to play an instrument is a most interesting and challenging bit of hard work to accomplish.
The Guitar.
The Electric Guitar.
Yes.
Funneries indeed.
So I picked one up ever since I've managed pretty well on.. ::coughs:: Games of musical-simulation nature, namely (YES YES, I know, Loser-status over here) Rock Band and Guitar Hero. I acquired GH3 actually back in.. ooh.. Christmas time '06? Played it like a madman damn near everyday since then.
I liked the whole aspect of the game, guitar shaped controller, 5 "fret" buttons, 1 "strum bar". Worked wonders for my musical interest and library. Trust me when I say this, after some of that musical influence hits you from playing some of the better tracks, you start to wonder what else is out there.. musically speaking.
Anyhoo, I started on medium, stood there for a while.. a loooong while.. few months really. Then I got GH2 for the 360 just cos I liked 'Message in a Bottle' and the game was surprisingly EASY, even for medium!
ENTER ROCK BAND.
Aah, fresh new tracks and.. ooh.. what's this..? EASIER fret tracks??? ALRIGHT~!! HELOOOOOOOO ACHIEVEMENTS~!!
It was actually through Rock Band's Bass that I started exploring the possibility of HARD mode. Along with the Bass' responsibility to keep the beat in the songs, a steady strumming and little timing required to switch over to the Orange fret button allowed me to take up the challenge. It was HARD at first, but nothing worthy of CAPS LOCK for the word. I mean, at times the switch-ups were crazy! But eventually and gradually, I started taking up on the Guitar on Hard.
Curiosity and Boredom eventually settled in and I went along for GH2's EXPERT mode and I must say..
Wow.
Nothing but Green, Yellow, and Blue chords for like the first 6-7 tiers. Things got interesting and pretty soon I was busting balls in RB's Expert mode and funny to say GH3's Expert mode is more like DEATH-mode at the 7th tier. I mean.. it starts to get BAD.
Moving on, with the constant victories and the more gaming, eventually I just got bored of it all and figured, maybe if I'm nice with these modes, perhaps I wouldn't be so bad with the real thing. Not to mention that a whole lot of musician enthusiasts that shit on the games for their exploitation of their losing business apparently use that propaganda to get people to get on the real instruments. So, I figured, fuck it, I'll join the fray. I mean, being musically inclined as well as artistically doesn't do harm to folks. Most artists pick up instruments or have hobbies or talents other than drawing, illustration, coloring, painting etc.
For instance, Daisuke Ishiwatari, the genius behind the Guilty Gear series is responsible for not only coming up with the whole lot of the story, but also illustrating, coloring characters and even COMPOSING the guitar and musical tracks for the games~! That guy's a FUCKING BEAST!
I WANNA BE A FUCKING BEAST!
That plays Metallica and Final Fantasy tracks sometimes in his free time.
Lol.
So off I go on another Solo Jam Session.
DOWN.
P.S.- Named my guitar, Bogard, after KOF's Terry. I like the sound of the name.. Bo-Gard.. fuckin' sweet.
